We're extremely proud to announce that Matthew Booker, our Marketing & Communications Director, and Dave Keen, our Training Operations Manager, have returned bruised but not beaten from their 3-day long trek raising money for British Army Veterans.
They participated in the Western Frontline Walk hosted by the Army Benevolent Fund, which consists of a 100-kilometre trek along the historic Somme and Passchendaele battlefields from the First World War, starting in Arras, France and finishing in the Belgium city of Ypres.
They took on this challenge for several reasons, primarily to honour the individuals who fought in WWI and WWII for their sacrifices, bravery, and the freedom that we enjoy today. As many of you may be aware, a large majority of our instructors are ex-armed forces and performed vital roles, such as combat medics, and this walk is in large part in honour of their own courage and selflessness.
Matthew Booker told us "I hold a deep respect for those willing to give so much of themselves while asking for so little in return. I also want to push my own boundaries and make a difference for today’s soldiers, veterans, and families in any way I can."
Kentec Training supplied the initial £150 registration fee for both of our eager trekkers in an effort to show support for their commitment, and our generous staff, friends, family, and clientele continued to add to that amount – totalling in over £3000 raised to support our Veterans.
