This Armed Forces Day, we’re proud to champion those who have served in the armed forces - several of whom are now integral members of our full-time instructor team. Through close collaboration with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), the official UK Ministry of Defence provider of resettlement support, Kentec Training has welcomed former service personnel into meaningful new careers within the training and health & safety sector.

The skills and discipline developed in military service often translate seamlessly into the high standards and safety-critical mindset required in our industry. Whether it’s delivering Work at Height, First Aid, Plant, or Health & Safety training, our veteran instructors bring with them a wealth of leadership experience, a strong work ethic, and a unique ability to connect with learners from all backgrounds.

But the journey doesn’t end with recruitment. At Kentec, our veterans are fully supported through a structured onboarding and mentoring programme, designed to help them adapt to civilian training environments while gaining industry-recognised qualifications. We pair each new instructor with experienced mentors and offer ongoing CPD opportunities to ensure their knowledge stays sharp and their careers continue to grow.

This supportive network - combined with a shared sense of purpose and camaraderie - helps make Kentec a natural home for those transitioning from service life to the next chapter of their careers. The result is a highly skilled, motivated team that strengthens the quality of our training and reflects our commitment to supporting the wider Armed Forces community.

As we continue to grow, we remain committed to working alongside organisations like the CTP to provide real, long-term opportunities for veterans - and to recognising the immense value they bring to our business and the safety training industry as a whole.

When supported correctly, veteran instructors bring depth, perspective, and a real-world understanding of safety that can’t be taught, it’s earned.

Are they different? Absolutely.

Do they challenge the norm? Often.

Are they worth every bit of the support and investment? Without a doubt.
