CITB Skills & Training Fund

Apply for up to £25,000 free funding

The CITB Skills & Training Fund is free funding supplied by CITB that can be put towards training programmes that suit your organisation’s needs. Whether you’d like to boost efficiency, seize growth opportunities, increase revenue, or inspire your team, this will help you stay prepared for the challenges ahead. Small and micro-businesses (with up to 99 directly employed staff) can apply for up to £10,000, whilst medium-sized companies (100 to 250 staff) can apply for up to £25,000 from CITB’s Skills & Training Fund.

Advice for Micro/Small-Sized Construction Businesses

You’ll be eligible to apply if you have up to 99 directly-employed staff (in addition to yourself/the business owner), you are a CITB-registered employer, you are completely up to date with your Levy Returns, and any previous project paid for by the Fund has been signed off as complete (if any).

You can apply for funding related to how many direct employees you have. Employers with CIS only (no PAYE) can receive up to £2,500. Employers with 1 to 49 directly-employed staff can receive up to £5,000. Employers with 50 to 74 directly-employed staff can receive up to £7,500. Employers with 75 to 99 directly-employed staff can receive up to £10,000.

Micro, small and medium-sized businesses can apply twice in a single 12 month window, but can only have 1 active 'project' at a time.

We advise discussing with your regional CITB Advisor prior to any application to ensure eligibility. After confirming, please download and complete the Skills & Training Fund Application Form available on the CITB website (see link below), and send the completed form to skills.training@citb.co.uk - ensuring that the training activity you specify takes place in the future and not in the past, as CITB are unable to fund retrospective activity. Please also ensure that Kentec Training is able to offer the training you've chosen.

Advice for Medium-Sized Construction Businesses

You’ll be eligible to apply if you have between 100 and 250 directly-employed staff on your payroll (in addition to yourself/the business owner), you are a CITB-registered employer, you are completely up to date with your Levy Returns, and any previous project paid for by the Fund has been signed off as complete (if any).

You can apply for funding related to how many direct employees you have. Employers with between 100 and 149 directly employed staff can receive up to £15,000. Employers with between 150 and 199 directly employed staff can receive up to £20,000. Employers with between 200 and 250 directly employed staff can receive up to £25,000.
