As Kentec Training are a registered CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), training with us allows CITB to pay grants towards your training costs for the achievement of approved short courses that are from 3 hours to 29 days in length and are focused on the core skills needed in the construction industry.

Who can apply for this grant?

You can apply if you’re a CITB Registered employer and are up to date with your Levy Returns, as well as adhering to CITB’s Grants Scheme policy and specific requirements for this grant. You can apply for this grant for all directly employed staff on the payroll, business owners and partners, and all subcontractors.

Which training courses are covered by this grant?

CITB pay grants for courses that align to approved industry agreed standards. Each standard displays how much grant CITB will pay towards your training if applicable. You can see a full list of short course standards by viewing the CITB Short Course Grant List PDF available at the top of this page.

How much is covered by the grant?

CITB pay grants for short courses at three tiered rates (excluding plant & machinery), determined by the duration and content of the course. You can see how much grant funding is provided for each applicable course by viewing the CITB Short Course Grant List PDF available at the top of this page.  CITB only pay a grant once for each individual per course, unless a standard specifies a renewal or refresher is required. Grants for courses where the standard is in development are only paid once per individual per lifetime as the requirement for a renewal or refresher has not yet been determined.

How to apply for the grant?

When you book your course with Kentec Training, please ensure you provide our support team with the following:

    • Your learner’s details, including their National Insurance number.
    • Your 7-digit CITB registration number

Without either of these, Kentec will not be able to apply for the automated grant on your behalf.

When an individual has successfully achieved an approved short course, Kentec will update CITB. CITB then enters the achievement on the Construction Training Register and processes the automated grant application. Grants are typically paid by bank transfer.

If you are a newly registered employer, you have a cap of 35 short course achievement grants for the financial year in which you are first registered. There is no cap for subsequent years.

Please contact CITB’s Customer Services team on 0344 994 4455 if your payment is not received within one month of achieving the course.
